Stranger Things – A Show For Energy Lovers

Run-Around -Blues Traveler

“But you, why you want to give me a run-around? Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up, when all it does is slow me down.”

I just binge watched the show Stranger Things on Netflix and I have to say it is the best show I’ve watched in a very long time. I’m a lover of all things supernatural and when you mix that with anything ’80s you can bet I’m going to be all in. I won’t give too much away in case anyone is interested in seeing it – and you should be – but I will say that the casting, characters and story line were superb. However, the thing I loved the most about the show was all of the stuff about energy and how much emphasis the series puts on all things feelings. As a culture, we’ve become more prone to act based only on logic; we want facts and nothing more. So when Winona Ryder’s character, Joyce, lets go of logic and tunes into the energy around her, I thought this is my type of show.

For me, life is so much more about feeling than it is about logic. I hardly ever make a judgment or decision based on what is in front of me. There is a place for feelings and energy and for me that is in all places. Never am I more convinced that is the right approach than when I watch my son navigate through his days. I can see that relying on logic over feelings is something we learn as we age and not something we are born with.

Here are some of the things I watch for every day to tune into energy.

  • Signs

I could be asking myself a question or struggling with a decision or event when I get a sign clear as day that makes perfect sense. I was once walking away from someone and turning around to tell him something that could have changed the course of my entire life. I was nearly about to turn around, with my heart beating 100 miles an hour, when there it was. I saw a huge billboard with a clear message.

JW - Keep walking

I did keep walking and that decision had the most profound effect on my life. Had I just passed it off as a coincidence, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

  • Initial Reactions

I pay attention to the energy I feel when I walk into a room or meet someone for the first time. In most instances, I will immediately know if their energy is positive or negative. I try to give it a chance because I have been conditioned through time to give everything a chance…to reason. The thing is that it’s my initial reaction that is nearly always right. I know – and if you stop and listen too – how much a person and I will get along, whether their intentions for me are good or bad, and whether the room I have entered is filled with positive energy or negative energy. I know this almost immediately. I trust that feeling. I listen to that feeling.

  • Dreams

Dreams nearly always mean something. Write them down. Sometimes the dream is about something we feel or sometimes about an insecurity we must face. Other times, dreams can indicate events that will happen in the future, but we have to know how to interpret those things. The most important thing to note is how the dream makes us feel instead of the signs associated with the things within the dream. I had a dream once that I was walking in a strange house full of dark red colors. I turned a corner and there was a table full of scorpions. They looked threatening, but I didn’t feel threatened at all. I walked past the table and saw Dexter (yeah, the one from the show) holding a beautiful, chubby baby boy. What I noticed was that Dexter, a character known to kill only the worst people, was no threat at all to me. On the contrary, he knew the boy was noble and kind; he was holding him exclusively for me. I woke up and knew I was pregnant and that the child would be a boy. I confirmed my pregnancy and when I did there was my due date: November 6. A day belonging to the astrological sign of Scorpio. Three years later, people are constantly telling me how kind my son is; it is one of his most resounding qualities. Pay attention to your dreams.

  • Music

I love music for all the reasons other people love music. We love music because it is one of the few things that can link directly to our emotions, feelings and memories. Much like the character Will in Stranger Things and his use of the song Should I Stay or Should I Go, people who are in another energy field (like people who have passed away) use music we associate with them as a means of communication. For me, every year on my birthday I either tune to it on the radio or hear it at whatever bar/restaurant I go to:

“But you, why you want to give me a run-around? Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up, when all it does is slow me down.”

Run-Around from Blues Traveler is not a coincidence. This song was a song that I will forever associate with my dearest cousin Andres who passed away a few years ago. We were very close and that song is reminder of a trip we went on when we were kids. That song is Andres’ way of telling me, “Hey, I’m around.” Listen out for songs that you might associate with a person you had a strong bond with – they might be trying to say hello.

The world is always talking to us. Energy is always speaking to us. Listen to it and definitely tune into Stranger Things – both the show and the things we don’t always give attention to because they don’t fit perfectly into a logical box.

I loved Stranger Things! It’s easily among my favorite shows now. I’m anticipating the next season which I don’t believe is a spoiler because it was announced 3 days after the show released. I love what you mentioned about energy. I, too am more prone to feeling & emotion than I am logic. Like for instance, I’m a writer and I love to read but if I open a book to read and give it a couple of chapters if it lacks positive vibes I won’t continue to read it.

That’s so true! There are some books I just can’t seem to get through no matter how bad I try. Perhaps it’s their energy. I can’t wait for season 2!

Yeah, it could be the energy of the book. Sometimes I say that and people have no idea what I’m saying but glad you understand. I, too am excited for season two.
